PCI-X Multilane SATA Controller

Designed using the latest 3Gbits/sec chipset from Silicon Image (SIL3124-2), this Multilane (4 lane) connector  equipped SATA controller incorporates many advanced features that are usually found only in much more expensive RAID controllers.

Can be easily configured as 4 individual drives with no RAID or as RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring), RAID 1+0 (mirrored stripe), and RAID 5 (parity stripe) or JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks - each drive can be a separate drive letter).  When installed into a fast PCI-X 133 MHz slot, this controller ensures maximum data throughput of up to 3 Gbits/sec per lane. Sustained throughput of 300 Mbytes/sec can be achieved using hi-performance 7,200 RPM SATA II hard drives by setting up 4 drives in a RAID 0 configuration.

In addition, the External SATA Multilane Infiniband connector also provides a very secure cable connection, improved durability and increased EMI protection to a SATA Multilane enclosure

Features:
  • SATA II compliant
  • PCI-X and PCI BUS compatible
  • 4x Multilane connector (screw type)
  • Up to 3 Gbits/sec (300 Mbytes/sec) per lane
  • RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 1+0, RAID 5 and JBOD support
  • Jumper selectable RAID or non-RAID* (JBOD) BIOS
    • RAID BIOS supports RAID 5, RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 1+S
    • non-RAID* BIOS supports JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks - each drive can be a separate drive letter for example)
  • Backward compatible with Serial ATA 150 (SATA 1.5Gb/s) drives
  • 48-bit LBA supports large capacity drives (supports SATA I and SATA II drives of any capacity)
  • Supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ)
  • Upgradeable firmware
  • Supports SATA II disk hot plug (hot swap drives without system shut down)
