Newnex FireWire 800/1394b Optical Repeater
Product Details

The world's first FireWire 800/1394b optical repeater!  Ideal for professional audio and video transmission applications such as broadcasting, scientific research, military, and medical monitoring systems...anywhere high-speed transfers over long distances is needed!

Utilizing an IEEE1394 PHY and optical transceiver, the Newnex FireNEX800 is capable of sending FireWire 800/1394b and FireWire 400/1394a signals through an optical fiber cable up to 500 meters (1640 feet) in length!  The Newnex FireNEX800 is contained within a small box slightly larger than a deck of cards, which makes it unobtrusive and compact, allowing you to place it almost anywhere.

Setting up the Newnex FireNEX800 is simple, taking only minutes, and like all IEEE1394 compliant hardware there is no configuration necessary.  Simply attach the LC/LC optical fiber cable between the two repeaters.  Then connect a FireWire cable from your computer's FireWire port to one repeater and a cable from your FireWire device to the other repeater.  That's it...you can now communicate with the FireWire device up to 500 meters away!
